Veteran jazz singer and guitarist Tu Nokwe describes her sound as 'uplifting the soul with loving, healing sounds' that celebrates the 'selfless feminine energy on the planet.' Raised in a family of musicians, Nokwe has music running through her veins. Her father, veteran actor Alfred Nokwe, was in a jazz swing band and her mother Patti was a soprano singer who taught her children to sing.

Nokwe was mentored by award-winning left-handed guitarist Bheki Koza, and first taught herself to play the guitar using strings tied between two chairs and a self-help book. The winner of the British World Magazine’s Best Release from Africa award, formed a very successful musical and acting career, playing Shaka's wife in the hit 1986 TV series Shaka Zulu and clocking up several awards for her jazz-funk albums.

Praised for her unique jazz-infused chanteuse style, Nokwe often sings in her native tongue Zulu, while her lyrics celebrate women, spreading a message of happiness and positivity.

She is joined at this performance by Bheki Koza and Lindelwe Ngonelo (best known as part of SAMA-nominated all-female jazz band Heels over Head).
