Goodman Gallery presents Narrative Means a new group exhibition that takes as its broad theme the methods which artists use to tackle the tensions between perception and meaning. The exhibition features artists from around Africa and the African diaspora including African-American artist Hank Willis Thomas, World Press Photo prize-winning photographer Mikhael Subotzky and Paris-based Moroccan multimedia artist Mounir Fatmi, while topical contemporary issues that they turn their artistic gaze towards cover a broad range of issues ranging from whiteness in photography to female sexuality and the female form and the conflicts inherent in the Western imagination of African culture.
