The historic Parktown Randlord mansion Northwards was built by the famed architect Herbert Baker and was once the home of the fabulously wealthy John Dale Lace and his flamboyant wife Josie who, it is said, used to ride around Joburg in a carriage pulled by zebras. The gardens were designed by Baker in a classic Italianate style and are remarkable also for their fantastic view over the treed suburbs, where hundreds of jacaranda trees burst into bloom at this time of year.

Join Kennedy Tembo of MicroAdventure Tours for a walk through the history of this unusual home followed by a laidback picnic in the gardens (bring your own picnic). Tickets cost R200. Book online here.
