The Bioscope brings back the cool with two special rooftop screenings of the cult 1998 stoner film The Big Lebowski. The outdoor screening takes place on the rooftop of the Main Street Life building in Maboneng (The Bioscope cinema is on the ground floor).

Written by the Coen brothers, the film's hero is unemployed ten pin bowling fanatic Jeff 'The Dude' Lebowski who becomes embroiled in a complex revenge plot after he is mistaken for a Los Angeles millionaire with the same name. The film was originally a box office flop but over time has gained cult classic status for its eccentric characters, hilarious dialogue and its famous ‘Gutterballs’ dream sequences and was even recently named the 'Best Stoner Movie of All Time' by Rolling Stone magazine.

The film screening begins at 20:00. Make sure to bring your own cushions and picnic blankets to sit on. You can also bring your own food and snacks (the Dude’s signature White Russians will be available at the rooftop bar).

Dressing up like The Dude (dressing gown, slippers and shades are all you need) is encouraged and the best dressed Dude on the night wins a free bowling game for them and a partner at Northcliff Bowling.
