The National Zoological Garden of South Africa – also known as Pretoria Zoo – is turning 126 years old, and everyone’s invited to the party. During October 2025, get 50% off all entrance tickets and celebrate over a century of connection between people, wildlife, and nature. Book now

Bring the whole family and enjoy a day filled with unforgettable moments at the Pretoria Zoo. Home to over 9,000 animals, this zoo offers the chance to see four of Africa’s iconic Big 5, alongside a remarkable variety of wildlife from across the globe. Wander leafy pathways to spot towering giraffes, curious primates, and powerful predators, or head to the Aquarium – one of only two inland aquariums in South Africa – to explore a dazzling world of freshwater and marine species. Don’t miss the Reptile Park, where snakes, lizards, and crocodiles offer an up-close look at the fascinating world of cold-blooded creatures.

Beyond the exhibits, the Zoo’s work in conservation and education continues to protect endangered species through vital breeding programs (we loved our visit to the Cape Vultures) and research initiatives. With wide-open lawns, shady picnic areas, and scenic walking trails, Pretoria Zoo is a full-day adventure and an unforgettable celebration of the wild. During your visit, climb aboard the Celebration Train for a magical journey through the Zoo’s expansive 85-hectare grounds.

Tickets cost R110 per person for adults (+18) and R75 per person for children aged 2–17, with kids under two entering for free. Book online here
