A must-see exhibition by one of South Africa's art world greats! This exhibition features drawings, oil monotypes and paintings by Robert Hodgins. Many of the works are being shown to the public for the first time. Don't miss out.

Robert Hodgins passed away in March 2010. The exhibition title "+/- 102" is a tribute to him that coincides with what would have been his 102nd birthday on 27 June 2022. Not only is this title a nod to the artist's birthday, but also a reference to a highly acclaimed 1997 exhibition titled UBU: +/- 101, which featured works by Deborah Bell, Robert Hodgins, and William Kentridge. This was hosted by the University of Witwatersrand Art Gallery and featured works representing each artist's interpretation of Alfred Jarry's play, Ubu Roi. UBU: +/- 101. For this, Hodgins had produced a series of images that cast the Ubu figure as a villain in various great historic tragedies and scandals, while managing to inject a note of a comic character making himself ridiculous.
