The always edgy Kalashnikovv art gallery in Braamfontein presents two new exhibitions by young upcoming South African artists this month;  A Journey Through the Unconscious Mind by artist Scum Boy and Seth Pimentel's An Ode to Catharsis.

In an Ode to Catharsis Pimentel addresses themes of identity, mental illness and modern life in the digital age, in portraits on paper and canvas that highlight his own lived experiences in post-colonial South Africa.

Meanwhile, in  A Journey Through the Unconscious Mind, Scum Boy, a young 3-D artist from Cape Town, presents a set of prints based around various stages of being unconscious and dreaming, that trace that strange line where the dream state and reality warp into each other.
