Tafadzwa Tega's exhibition Chisi Hachieri Musi Wacharimwa – A Seed Will Take Its Time To Grow at Everard Read's CIRCA Gallery is a moving tribute to the strength, love, beauty and resilience of the Zimbabwean diaspora. His large mixed-media works are vibrantly alive with colour and depict the struggle and hope of those individuals who have left their homeland in search of a better life. Expecially poignant as thousands of Zimbabweans are being forced to fight for their right to stay in South Africa currently, after having resettled here many years ago.

The works are filled with symbolism, with books pointing to the value placed on education in Zimbabwe, chandeliers hinting at its colonial past and lavish traditional clothing paying tribute to the customs and the pride they hold in spite of the hardships being faced. And in the midst of it all, a mirror serves as a reminder that even in the darkest of times, there is always a glimmer of light, a source of beauty and inspiration that can help us navigate life's challenges.

Exhibition opens Thu, Apr 20 at 18:00.
