The Bicycle is a cycling school that teaches people of all ages and abilities to learn to ride a bicycle, based out of the Breezeblock Cafe in Brixton. 

The first lesson is on a flat tennis court away from traffic, which makes it easy and a lot less stressful to learn. Learning is also staged in that you start with the pedals off the bicycle and learn to balance before learning to pedal. Lessons are available on Saturday and Sunday at 08:00, 10:00, 12:00, and 14:00 apart from the first Sunday each month when the school is closed, and on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 08:00 and 10:00 and should be booked in advance. 

Each lesson lasts an hour and 45 minutes and costs R300. The Bicycle School charges an additional R60 for bicycle rental if you do not have your own bicycle. Reservations for lessons are made on their website.
