The Bioscope independent cinema in Maboneng screens historical drama The Bookshop this month. Based on the critically acclaimed novel of the same name, The Bookshop is a historical drama that follows young war widow Florence Green as she opens a small bookshop in spite of resistance from the community in her conservative 1950s English seaside town.

With a lineup of familiar faces from the British cinema world including Emily Mortimer and Bill Nighy, beautifully wrought scenes of brooding English countrysides and a few surprising and emotive plot twists, The Bookshop has all the indicative marks of a heartwarming classic.
