The Busiest Airline in Africa — Simon Gush at Stevenson Gallery

Oct 16 - Nov 19 2021       46 7th Ave, Parktown North
In his latest exhibition Simon Gush continues his investigation into labour and the social implications of commerce through a durational body of work. The Busiest Airline in Africa is centred around the story of the notorious Wenela Air Services that transported mineworkers across southern Africa, an airline that was for a time in the mid-20th Century said to be Africa's busiest. The show is an ongoing constellation of mural paintings, photography, and film overlaid with text and sound that is set to continue to evolve through the duration of the exhibition.

On Sat Oct 30 at 11:00 composer Healer Oran (Andrei van Wyk) performs a live reinterpretation of his score for Gush's film ‘The Busiest Airline in Africa’  with musician and sound artist Daniel Gray.
