Andrea Burgener's and Nick Gordon's Melville restaurant The Leopard in Melville was a Joburg institution for years, much loved for celebrated chef and cookbook author Burgener's cheeky menu of innovative dishes made from fresh seasonal ingredients. The pair decided to close up shop in Melville in mid-2017 (and stop working nights so their children could see more of them) and focus instead on running a catering business. For locals it's a win as fans of Burgener's cooking style can now find a delicious selection of take-home dishes at The Leopard + Kitchen + Larder + Can Do, her small deli located in the courtyard of Milpark's boutique shopping centre 44 Stanley.

The Leopard has built a reputation for sourcing the finest locally produced ingredients and for focusing on sustainability. In the fridge you'll find a daily selection of heat-up or just go ahead and serve take-home meals, so good you'll want to tell your guests you made them yourself. On the shelves is a carefully sourced selection of the finest ingredients which Burgener herself uses in the kitchen as well as freshly made salads, homemade preserves and sauces (The Leopard's winning Caesar salad dressing is a must, as is the Cinnamon Fudge Sauce – a superb dinner party gift).

From 11:00-15:00 the deli also has a small hot lunch takeaway menu that changes daily.
