The 2021 Booker Prize-winning novel "The Promise" by Damon Galgut makes its debut on the Market Theatre stage. The story portrays the decline of the Swarts, a white family in South Africa during the country's transition out of apartheid.

The production, adapted for the stage by writer Damon Galgut and director Sylvaine Strike, promises to be funny, confrontational, and powerful, giving the novel a whole new life. 

The star-studded cast of this seminal family drama features a remarkable group of talented actors including:  Rob van Vuuren, Kate Normington, Frank Opperman, Chuma Sopotela, Cintaine Schutte, Jenny Stead Albert Pretorius Sanda Shandu and Jane de Wet. Their collective star power guarantees an outstanding performance that will captivate audiences.

The duration of the play is two hours with a 15-minute interval.
