Gallery 2 in Parkwood presents its latest group exhibition Through the window, showcasing works by some 30 South African artists. A collection of visual narratives, for the exhibition each artist was invited to explore the idea of storytelling through mediums including illustration, sculpture, ceramics, ink, painting, mixed media, collage and more. Whether a story is distinct or more abstract, all are open to all kinds of interpretations, making this a satisfyingly eclectic experience.

The long list of featured artists includes many popular names such as Audrey Anderson, Maaike Bakker, Kevin Collins, Karin Daymond, Bronwen Findley, Diana Hyslop, Sanele Jali, Collen Maswanganyi, Fiona Pole, Kagiso Reuben, Nina Torr and Zhi Zulu.

Among the many highlights are Kevin Collins' delightfully whimsical and highly collectable ceramic works. For this exhibition, Collins submitted a collection titled ‘An Amnesty of Whales – illustrations of the past and the future’. Inspired by the awesome and mysterious nature of these majestic creatures that now find their existence endangered by climate change, the collection celebrates the superior intelligence and social organisation of whales while also calling for their protection.

Opening event Sat Nov 6 at 11:30.
