Celebrating all things street art, the French Institute of South Africa hosts Ubuhle Bendalo, an experimental urban art residency devoted to celebrating local street art culture, creating opportunities within the local street art community, and fostering cross-cultural connections between local and international artists through a series of events and residencies.

The first edition of Ubuhle Bendalo, curated by Cape Town-based multidisciplinary visual artist Breeze Yoko, takes places in Soweto and Braamfontein.

The line-up of events includes the painting of new murals in Braamfontein by international street artists Sitou Matthia and doudou'style and South African street artists Mr. Ekse and Yoko (from March 17-22), a 'sketch battle' on Friday March 22 at Grayscale Gallery, and an artistic workshop for women hosted by Trackside Creative in Soweto on Saturday March 23.
