Leading the orchestra for the evening is guest conductor William Eddins from the United States who has led some of America's top orchestras including the Minnesota Orchestra and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
The full programme for the evening includes: Joaquin Rodrigo – Concierto de Aranjuez | Pietro Mascagni – Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana | Jules Massenet – “Je marche sur le chemins” from the opera Manon | Aram Khachaturian – Adagio from the ballet Spartacus | Léo Delibes – “Ou va la jeune Indoue” from the opera Lakmé | Elgar – Salut d’amour | Tchaikovsky – Fantasy Overture from the ballet Romeo and Juliette.
For this first week of concerts the orchestra will be performing on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evening. Make sure to arrive early to treat yourself to a glass of wine before the performance and to enjoy an insightful pre-concert talk (from 18:45 in the Space Frame Foyer) which goes into detail about the background, composition and varying motifs of the evening's performances.
