Via Injabulo is a production that pays homage to the spirit of community, culture, and tradition in the township of Katlehong, blending contemporary dance with the vibrant South African pantsula style.

Renowned dance ensemble, Via Katlehong, present their latest production Via Injabulo from Thur, Jun 29 to Sun, Jul 2 at the Joburg Theatre. This will be their first performance in South Africa following their recent participation in the Maitisong Festival held in Gaborone, Botswana.

For this series of performances, Amala Dianor, a French-Senegalese dancer, and Portugal's Marco da Silva Ferreira were invited by Via Katlehong to collaborate on a new piece. This double feature celebrates the joy of dance and the eagerness to spread it through two unique energies.

Established in 1992, Via Katlehong is an acclaimed dance ensemble that originated as a community-based group comprising young talent from the East Rand's Katlehong township. By seamlessly fusing inventive elements into pantsula, gumboots and tap routines, among other stylistic components, they have sewn innovative new facets to these established forms of dancing – eventually transforming them into crucial staples for modern-day South African performances.

The tour is made possible with support from the French Institute of South Africa, the French Institute in Paris, and TotalEnergies Marketing South Africa.
