What began as a humble gathering in Linden has now blossomed into over 10 years of beloved seasonal pop-ups at the very pretty Johannesburg Botanical Gardens, next to Emmarentia Dam. With over 150 stalls, TLM has grown into a fun shopping experience, complete with live music and entertainment that captures the spirit of Joburg.
This market is the perfect spot for shopping, featuring ethically sourced materials, sustainable goods, and artisanal creations. For the creative souls, craft workshops will ignite your imagination, while the kids can enjoy a variety of activities, from painting to sculpting, to making their own unique pieces.
You're in for a weekend of makers, music, and market magic! Here's what’s in store for the autumn edition of TLM from Sat, Mar 28 – Sun, Mar 29:
1. Over 150 hand-picked makers and vendors
Discover over 150 top-tier makers, from artisan foods to bespoke fashion, handcrafted jewellery, and one-of-a-kind homeware. It’s a showcase of South Africa’s finest creatives – all in one colourful, treasure-filled space.
2. Artisanal eats and craft cocktails
From craft cocktails to gourmet bites, TLM has all the sips and snacks to keep your taste buds dancing. Whether you’re toasting with a crisp drink or indulging in artisanal eats, consider this your food destination.
3. Live music and entertainment
While sitting in the sunshine, enjoy stellar sounds and spontaneous dance breaks. Expect a full line-up of local musicians and performers who’ll keep the good energy flowing all weekend long.
4. Creative craft workshops
Fybre Studios will be at the market hosting tufting workshops where participants aged 12 and up can pick their own designs and colours to create a one-of-a-kind textured rug, along with ceramic painting sessions – a tactile, joyful experience that’s as therapeutic as it is artistic. 5. Pre-loved thrifters block
Step into the Pre-loved Thrifters Block, where style gets a second chance. From vintage finds to upcycled designs and timeless thrifts, this is where fashion meets sustainability, because every great outfit deserves a great story. Making the Pre-loved Thrifters Block more fun this edition is DJ Michael Lesar, who'll be spinning vinyl classics for stylish treasure hunters.
6. Denim upcycle studio
Give old denim a new life at the Denim Upcycle Studio, where visitors can transform pre-loved jeans into something fresh and unique. Guided by local creatives, this hands-on experience celebrates sustainability, creativity, and the art of turning yesterday’s denim into tomorrow’s statement piece.
7. Deli Den and Tea Garden
Take a delicious pause at the Deli Den and Tea Garden, where visitors can explore a selection of artisanal deli products, sweet treats, and refreshing teas in a relaxed garden setting.
8. Kids activities and family fun
Bring the little ones to a dedicated space for younger visitors featuring DIY craft stations, lawn games, and creative play activities.
