The exhibition is a comprehensive presentation of perfectly preserved graphic images of plants and animals from the collections of old prints of the Polish Academy of Arts & Sciences. The presentation is addressed to both traditional art gallery visitors, nature enthusiasts, and professional naturalists, as well as the ecologically conscious. Although the basic purpose of the presented works was scientific use, the high artistic quality of the graphics, extraordinary craftsmanship by the engravers and printers, as well as the aesthetic stylization of the subject matter all contribute to these old prints being recognised as autonomous works of art.
