This independent art event takes place for one week in dozens of locations across Kraków each spring, with the goal of connecting the city's residents with contemporary art and the people creating it. In addition to established art spaces and galleries, each year the festival finds new public spaces for art installations as well, including private apartments, gardens and cafes. Using a map specially printed for the event, participants are able to discover previously unknown initiatives, artists and their works. In addition, KRAKERS offers an accompanying programme of workshops, guided tours, meetings with artists and discussion panels. Every year, several hundred artists and curators create a programme consistent with the theme that connects, focuses on and highlights the artistic processes taking place in galleries, studios, pop-up places, cellars and attics.
The theme for 2025 is 'At times I think I'm dreaming' - a quote from Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz, to whom the festival will pay tribute on the 140 anniversary of his birth.
