There is a unique friendship between the Polish and Hungarian nations. Apart from the mutual affinity, Poland and Hungary are surely bonded by history as well as a love for the art of the posters. While Polish and Hungarian languages differ significantly, the Hungarian word ‘Plakátok’ is completely understandable in Polish (as it simply means ‘posters’). The most persistent propagator of Polish posters in Hungary is the President of the Hungarian Poster Society, Krzysztof Ducki. For a couple of years now, in cooperation with the Polish Institute in Budapest, Krzysztof has been inviting Polish artists to workshops at the Budapest Metropolitan University where he teaches. Countless professionals and students have participated in these workshops and with that knowledge have created the posters presented in this exhibition. Some of the works have become finalists in international competitions and will be presented at international exhibitions such as Mut Zur Wut (Germany), Poster for Tomorrow (France), and the Environmental Poster Competition (Mexico).
