Summer Jazz Festival Kraków

Jul 3 - Aug 15 2020
Kraków spoils live music fans each summer with over a month of daily jazz concerts during the Summer Jazz Festival. This year's festival begins a bit later in the season due to COVID-19 concerns, but is charging ahead from July 3 to August 15 with more performances than ever before. First organised in 1996 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the important artistic and literary venue Piwnica Pod Baranami, the festival has gradually grown into the biggest jazz festival in Poland, and 2020 represents the landmark 25th edition of the festival.

Although some previously planned headline concerts have been rescheduled for 2021 because of the pandemic (Branford Marsalis Quartet, and Kenny Garrett Quintet), others have merely changed dates for this year, including Fusion Night with Billy Cobham, Adam Bałdych and Adzik Sendecki (August 8), and the concert of Adam Makowicz and Leszek Możdżer (Aug. 15). Other headline concerts include Ula Dudziak at Manggha on August 2nd, and a concert in memory of Jarek Śmietana by Karen Edwards and friends - also at Manggha on August 7. 30 daily concerts will take place at Piwnica Pod Baranami - both downstairs and in the courtyard, and at Harris Piano Jazz Bar. This year's honorary Artist-in-Residence will be pianist Dominik Wania, performing 6 concerts during the festival. With literally hundreds of concerts planned, check the full programme here; tickets here.
