This French family restaurant is the fulfilled dream of pedigreed French-Polish head chef Dorota Rydygier - whose immaculate resume includes residencies at multiple Michelin 3-star restaurants in France - and her son, Kamil. Charmingly located in a former bakery in Dębniki (the oft-overlooked neighbourhood across the river from Wawel), the locale features a lush, ivy-draped terrace garden, while the casual interior of exposed bricks, old oven tiles and unfinished floors puts the chefs intimately amongst the clients, creating a wonderful atmosphere for gourmands looking to indulge in Kraków's most authentic French cuisine. Enjoy excellent, beautifully presented interpretations of classics like escargot, frog legs, foie gras and French onion soup, or go for house specialties like beef sirloin baked in bread or sous-vide mangalica (a uniquely wooly Hungarian pig breed). The concise menu is supplemented with seasonal additions each week, and the 30zł 3-course daily lunch special is simply tough to beat. With already affordable prices and excellent French wines, why not cross the river and - Voilà! - find yourself transported to 'Gay Paree'?
