The art of counterfeiting is as old as money itself. Always considered the most serious crime, nevertheless attempted successfully by the representatives of various classes - criminals, princes, clergymen, bankers, members of the middle class, merchants as well as the most obvious culprits,  desperate paupers. Interestingly, counterfeited money is still in circulation, often distributed by unaware participants. The collection of counterfeited coins at the Hutten-Czapski Museum consists of nearly 7 000 items and is constantly growing. The exhibition features a selection of items from the collection, from antiquity to 1990, including those created to the detriment of the issuer and collectors.
