Sustainable Mobility Plan

more than a year ago
One of the key aims of the Vision 2025 project, the Sustainable Mobility Plan emphasises the promotion of sustainable forms of mobility and the restriction of private motorised transport. The key aim is to improve the distribution of mobility by increasing walking by 20%, cycling by 40% and bus journeys by 50%, all the while reducing car journeys by 20%. By 2020, the hope is that transport distribution will be 1/3 public transport, 1/3 non-motorised mobility and 1/3 private vehicles.

One key initiative for this aim was the introduction of the Urbana card in 2010, making public transport easier to use and more efficient. This will be boosted by the aimed creation of 30 intermodel transfer points (by 2017), the establishment of modern high-speed public transfer routes (2020), the much-needed modernisation of the railway infrastructure (2025) and the continued improvement of the cycling and pedestrian paths in the city. Public transport is constantly promoted, and the people of Ljubljana are all in on getting around the city by the most energy efficient means possible.
