The Conservation and Restoration Department of the National Museum of Slovenia is the oldest organisational unit for conservation and restoration of museum material in Slovenia. In this context, the foundations of contemporary museum conservation and restoration in Slovenia have been developed, and its functioning is of key importance for the physical preservation of movable cultural heritage from prehistory to modern times. 
However, the work of museum conservators is not widely known to the general public, so this exhibition celebrating the 60th anniversary of the department presents the rich history of preservation and restoration of museum material.
