"All sculptures are 'points of entry' into the great sculptural megatext." – Bruce Arnott.

The exhibition Into the Megatext at Nirox Sculpture Park gives the first comprehensive overview of the work of Bruce Murray Arnott. Predominantly working in bronze, Arnott is one of South Africa's quietly influential figures in art and design as well as in his work as a scholar and curator.

His work displays an incredible balance between balancing intellectual rigour with creative expression and exhibits an intrinsic understanding of the human condition. For Into the Megatext, Nirox and The Villa-Legodi Centre for Sculpture have brought together more than 50 sculptures, drawings and texts created between 1962 and 2018. This immense body of work is filled with references to art, history, mythology, ecology and philosophy and works to provide an introduction to Arnott's view that  "All sculptures are 'points of entry' into the great sculptural megatext."

The exhibition will also see the launch of a publication of the same name, in association with Print Matters Heritage, exploring Arnott's life and work. The book launch will be held on Sun, May 28 during NIROX’s WORDS Fest. Space is limited and RSVP is required to sven@villa-legodi.com.

Access to Nirox Sculpture Park is R120 per person, R60 for kids, and is paid at the door.
