The City of Joburg turned 130 last year, rising from a mining camp to the lively megalopolis it is today. The Joburg Heritage Foundation traces the city's 13 decade history through the lens of 13 iconic buildings and 13 influential personalities in Joburg’s history in this fascinating talk.

Taking in various local landmarks that are significant to Joburg's social history, the talk focuses particularly on architecture covering the early mining years, the British colonial period, the 1930s Art Deco era and the post-war modernism of the 1940s and 1950s and ends with a look at the city's future as seen in the rapidly growing Sandton business district.

The talk is led by Johannesburg Heritage Foundation chairman Brett McDougall and architect Brian McKechnie. Tickets include tea and biscuits.
