Role description
We are looking for a Social Media Lead to shape and grow the digital voice of Johannesburg In Your Pocket – a city guide focused on culture, storytelling, and discovery. The ideal candidate will be expected to manage and grow our digital presence through strong content, smart scheduling, and clear insights.
This is a five-day a week half-day role (with flexibility over weekends when required) for someone who can deliver quality over volume.
You will be responsible for
– Managing and growing our social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, and others)
– Creating short video (Reels) and photo content that reflects the tone and rhythm of the city
– Creating text content geared to engaging social storytelling
– Scheduling content for maximum engagement
– Working closely with the team on client campaigns and partnerships
– Tracking performance and reporting
– Managing community and UGC
The ideal candidate
– Strong visual and editorial instinct
– An understanding of Johannesburg – its places, energy, and culture
– Interested in helping to grow and manage community
– Proactive, who is not waiting to be told what to do
Core skills
– An intermediate level of understanding of the key social media platforms and the profile of Johannesburg In Your Pocket
– Excellent content creation (visual and written)
– Ability to write sharp, engaging captions
– Experience with Instagram and short-form video
– Design skills (Canva or similar tools)
– Confident with scheduling tools, content planning, and workflow management
– Ability to interpret analytics and report on performance
– Strong attention to detail and consistency
Qualifications and requirements
– 2–5 years experience in social media or content
– Comfortable working independently
– Based in Johannesburg

Role description
We are looking for a highly capable, systems-driven Operations and Delivery Lead to help execute business growth plans, manage team goals, and ensure that day-to-day activity is aligned with our 12-week strategic cycles.
This role is for someone who thrives on structure, accountability, and execution – someone who can see the big picture and drive the details. You will act as a bridge between leadership vision and team delivery, ensuring that campaigns, partnerships, and internal goals move from planning to measurable results. In addition, you will also liaise with clients, manage promotional campaigns, maintain partnerships with stakeholders, and ensure that deliverables meet deadlines and expectations.
This is a part-time hybrid role based in Rosebank.
Key responsibilities
1. Business growth & execution
– Translate high-level business goals into clear plans, timelines, and deliverables
– Support revenue growth through improved execution of client campaigns, partnerships, and sponsorship opportunities
– Assist in planning, and executing events as part of brand and revenue strategy
2. Team coordination & accountability
– Support team members with structure, clarity, and follow-through
– Track progress against goals and flag risks early
3. Brand & campaign oversight
– Work to refine brand plans and ensure consistent execution
– Help turn brand and content ideas into actionable, time-bound plans
– Oversee the coordination of client campaigns to ensure what is promised, planned, and delivered is aligned
4. Social media & performance monitoring
– Monitor social media performance across platforms
– Support campaign planning with platform-specific insight and performance data
– Produce clear internal and client-facing reports on engagement, growth, and campaign results
5. Partnerships & sponsorships
– Assist in managing existing partnerships
– Support proposal development and follow-through
6. Systems & operations
– Improve internal systems for planning, tracking, and reporting
– Assist with high-level admin and operational coordination
– Help create repeatable processes that allow the business to scale
Qualifications
– Three to five years agency experience
– Strong project management and organizational skills to coordinate tasks effectively and oversee timelines
– Competency in customer relationship management and stakeholder collaboration
– Familiarity with digital marketing, social media platforms, and creative campaign strategies
– Proficiency in using Monday.com (ninja-level) and other tools for managing tasks, content, or projects, including Google Drive and associated products
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with clients and cross-functional teams
– Flexibility to adapt to hybrid work requirements
– Understanding of the urban dynamics of the city and knowledge of Johannesburg’s key attractions is a plus
– Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field is preferred
