Tours vary from 6-hour experiences taking in remarkable stories of regeneration and entrepreneurship in areas across the city, to shorter themed walks through the historic Main Street Mining District and shopping and food experiences in the Fashion District and Little Addis (Ethiopian Quarter).
Tours start and end at the Thunder Walker, JoburgPlaces' fantastically atmospheric venue on Gandhi Square which houses a bar, cafe-restaurant and function spaces. A venue worthy of a trip downtown in and of itself.

What's on at JoburgPlaces this summer
The Thunder Walker is open Tue-Sun throughout December for lunch and dinner (11:00-21:00) and for breakfast (from 08:00) on Saturdays and Sundays. The venue closes from Dec 24-28 for their annual break and remains open on New Year's Day for its annual brunch celebration.Charlie and Gerald will also be leading tours through the season too, a brilliant holiday activity if you have decided to stay in the city for the festive season. Private tours are available (R1,000 for 2 and R500 per additional person) and there are also a series of group walks on set dates that you can book for:
Sat Dec 19 Fashion District & Little Addis Walk (R350 per person)
Sun Dec 20 and Jan 3 East Town is Alive Walks (available on a ‘pay as much as you like’ basis)
Sat Jan 2 Astonishing Marshalltown Walk (R350 per person).
