Janice Honeyman's annual pantomime extravaganza at Joburg Theatre is always an energetic and over-the-top festive affair packed with celebrity cameos, comedy cross-dressing, silly puns, glitz, glamour and big musical numbers that will appeal to children and adults of all ages.

This year's panto is Jack and the Beanstalk, based (very loosely) on the fairtyale about the young boy Jack, a bag of magic beans and his battles to defeat a hungry giant. As ever with Honeyman's productions, the scene is set for a raucous evening of panto fun with the most fantastic costumes, elaborate larger-than-life sets and a script filled with slapstick humour and witty wordplay that will delight families. 

Casper de Vries makes his panto debut with a hilarious turn as the big baddie's chief henchman while the ravishing Lelo Ramasimong makes for a glittering and feisty Good Fairy whose showstopping renditions of Tina Turner numbers are a standout of the musical programme. The role of Jack the Joller is played by the energetic Zolani Shangase, a veteran of Honeyman's annual pantos having previously starred in Aladdin while 22-year old Dezlenne Ulster-Weale plays his love interest, Raspberry Rose.
