The sweeping score of Giuseppe Verdi’s opera in three acts has been specially rearranged for this romantic ballet version based on Alexandre Dumas’ tragic love story, the Lady of the Camellias. Dumas’ famous book tells a story of love, sadness, and aristocracy in 19th century France where lead character Marguerite Gautier lives a life of opulence which attracts many admirers, but still lacks love until she meets the young bourgeoise gentleman Armand who convinces her to end her life as a courtesan.

The role of the tragic heroine is danced by Shannon Glover, Burnise Silvius and Claudia Monja. The role of Marguerite's lover Armand rotates between three principle dancers; Buenos Aires-based ballet dancer; Juan Pablo Ledo, who has been the principal dancer for many popular productions around the world including The Nutcracker as part of the prestigious Ballet del Teatro Colón, Daniel Szybkowski from Cape Town City Ballet and Michael Revie.

Discounted tickets are available on Fri Mar 31 (half price), Sat Apr 1 (20% off), Tue Apr 4 and Wed Apr 5 (11:00 matinee tickets R80).
