Ghanaian musician and actress Jojo Abot comes to The Orbit in the wake of her recent successful American tour with Lauryn Hill and performance at Afropunk Joburg 2017.

Abot's unique sound, which she cheekily terms Afro-hyno-sonic, is influenced by Ghanaian polyrhythms and her debut album Fyfya Woto (meaning New Birth or New Discovery) tells a story through the eyes of the fictional Fyfya. “Caught in a comprising position with her Caucasian lover…and brought before a traditional tribunal. It [Fyfya Woto] tells the story of their punishment and the repercussions of their supposed sin. I think as a body of work it explores: tradition, culture and myth.”

Abot is joined on stage at this concert at The Orbit by internationally-acclaimed South African post-rock band BLK JKS.
