<p>This annual literary festival boasts an entertaining talks programme hosted by local and international authors and journalists. The wide range of topics includes colonialism, crime, graphic novels, traditional African food and Joburg life.<br /> <br /> <strong>Highlights of the 2017 Kingsmead Book Fair include:</strong><br /> The SAFFCA Art Talk<strong> </strong>series featuring discussions led by <strong>Willem Boshoff </strong>and <strong>Mary Sibande</strong>; food anthropologist <strong>Anna Trapido </strong>and dietician <strong>Mpho Tshukudu</strong> discuss healthy eating solutions based on traditional African food; <strong>Lindiwe Hani</strong> (daughter of the late political leader Chris Hani) discusses her life before and after her father's murder and details how she overcome cocaine and alcohol addiction; <strong>Lauren Beukes</strong>, <strong>Loyiso Mkize</strong> and <strong>Alan Knott-Craig</strong> discuss the growing popularity of African graphic novels and<strong> Talk Radio 702 presenters</strong> Stephen Grootes, Katy Katopodis, Redi Tlhabi and Gugs Mhlungu and Mail & Guardian Editor-in-Chief Khadija Patel discuss #FakeNews and the practice of bending the truth for political gain.</p>
