Jazz pianist and composer Kyle Shepherd is one of South Africa’s most exciting jazz talents and received the prestigious Standard Bank Young Artist of the Year in 2014. A regular fixture on the international jazz scene, Shepherd has collaborated on contemporary jazz projects with musicians from all over the world.<br /> <br /> This special Youth Day concert marks the 1976 Soweto riots anniversary and reflects on South Africa’s youth. In this special performance titled <em>South African History X</em>, Shepherd is joined on The Orbit stafe by his brand new jazz quintet, an exciting musical collaboration made up of some of the brightest young stars of the South African jazz scene including fellow Standard Bank award winner Benjamin Jephta (bass) and drummer Marlon Witbooi.
