Open Gardens

Saturday Oct 7 - Sunday Oct 8

Every Spring, Johannesburg residents weed out their trellises, prune their shrubs, hose out their bird baths and dust off their water features before opening up their gates for the public to explore and enjoy their exquisite gardens. To take in the official announcement of a new season, this year, Johannesburg Garden Club is hosting two Open Gardens, a short 10-minute drive away from each other.

Our suggestion would be to start off at 9 Christopherson Rd for a warm brew while you walk your way through acres of this private English-style garden. Then pop off to 22 Pallinghurst Rd for the next viewing that hosts a tea garden with bubbly, and a smoked salmon bar alongside rose sales. You’ll get some of the best views of the city here too.

Both gardens are selling raffle tickets at R40 (for one) or R100 (for four) and all proceeds raised on the day will go to Jo’burg Child Welfare who provide a range of services to abused, abandoned, neglected, orphaned and vulnerable children in Johannesburg.

“If you love exploring beautiful spaces, you definitely don't want to miss out on these two gorgeous gardens designed by Shirley Louise Wallington and Gregory Mark Landscapes.” – Johannesburg Garden Club
