Sanell Aggenbach’s delightful new exhibition The Heart Has Many Rooms is all about the various aspects of affection. A mix of monochromatic paintings and eye-catching bronze sculptures Aggenbach's exhibition is imbued with a sense of intimacy. A highlight on the upper floor of the gallery is the playful Devotion of Mother and Child, a version of Michelangelo’s Pietà reimagined as a two-metre bronze sculpture of two toy rabbits. Meanwhile the works on show on the floor below speak more to matters of the heart and eroticism portrayed in paintings of unmade bed linen whose contour-like shapes resemble valleys seen from an aerial view. A quiet meditation on affection that probes the complexities of human endearment.
