Hyde Park’s Graham Contemporary gallery opens two new solo exhibitions this Sat, Sep 9 – Bob Nosa Uwagboe’s We Come in Peace and Andrew Kayser’s Fragments of Longer Stories.

While both artists work with the medium of painting, they have vastly different styles. Uwagboe’s work has a certain tactility to it, evident in his way of working into the layers of the paint with repetitive gestures. Working largely with figuration, his bold and deliberate use of colour is another defining element of his work.

Andrew Kayser uses the suburban setting as his landscape of choice, populating it with a variety of human and animal figures. His oil paintings are distilled and dreamlike, often-times disquieting, and always inviting a longer, closer viewing. The longer you look, the more is revealed.

Both bodies of work will be well-worth a visit, and are a great opportunity to view two dynamic and distinctive forms of painting that have emerged from the African continent.

The opening event takes place on Sat, Sep 9 at 11:00.
