Founded by Nkululeko Mthembu and his brother Siyabonga Mthembu, The Brother Moves On is a performance art and music ensemble whose genre-bending afro-futuristic style defies classification. The first band in South Africa to be signed up by an art gallery (Goodman Gallery) as performance artists, the band have also played some of the city's most significant music festivals.

The band’s name comes from a creative misspelling of The Brother Mouzone, a fictional hitman in the American television drama series The Wire. The Brother Moves On's name also represents their transiency within the artistic process and stands as a legacy to late founding member Nkululeko Mthembu, who passed on a few weeks before the release of their debut album A New Myth.

At this gig the band celebrates the sixth anniversary of the release of their album ETA with limited edition merchandise including T-shirts and CDs with original artwork on sale at the gig.
