For Threads of Identity Origin Art brings together the works of Bulumko Mbete, Frans Thoka, Ntate Phakela and Pamela Sana King Mavuso. Each of these four artists interweaves identity into their practice and their work is a reflection on their history and culture. By bringing them together Origin Art highlights the importance of celebrating and recognising identity and culture while remaining cognisant of the historic inequalities.
Through various mediums, from sculpture to painting, drawing, and printmaking, these artists provide a glimpse into their own journeys and their perceptions of what it means to be South African. The exhibition hopes to inspire visitors to reflect on their own connections to their identity and to appreciate the diverse range of perspectives that make up the South African experience.
