Kraków, as the culture capital of Poland, is home to all sorts of cultural endeavours meant to popularise music, film, poetry, and visual arts - and opera certainly is not forgotten among them. This is the twentieth anniversary edition of the festival organised by the Kraków Opera, and it will kick off with Richard Wagner's <em>Tannhäuser</em>, featuring Tomasz Kuk and Janusz Ratajczak, with performances on June 9th, 10th, and 12th. Music lovers will also have the chance to experience Verdi's <em>Il trovatore</em> (June 17th and 19th), performed in the Wawel Castle courtyard; Puccini's <em>Madame Butterfly (</em>June 23rd), <em>Tosca </em>(June 24th), and <em>La bohème</em> (June 26th); a ballet show titled simply<em> Emotions</em> (June 20th);<em> Arias of World Operas </em>(June 21st), a concert of the world's most popular operatic hits; and the<em> Operetta My Love...! </em>closing show (June 30th and July 1st).<br />
