Run by the JCC (Jewish Cultural Centre), Hafuch is one of Kraków's only kosher-certified cafes, but also exemplifies all that's great about Kazimierz's cafe culture. The name, of course, refers to the 'inverted' Israeli milk-first method for making cappuccino - their specialty. However, Hafuch also offers a range of hot drinks and alternative brewing methods, including seasonal specials. The sweet and savoury baked goods are inspired by old family recipes and traditions, and the breakfast sets (served 10:00-14:00) draw on classic Polish-Jewish cuisine ('bialys' onion rolls and challah bread) and flavours from the diaspora (hummus, labneh, matbucha). In most other respects though, Hafuch is a progressive cafe you'd only find in contemporary Kraków. The simple, casual interior - which includes a large round portal between the rooms - embraces Soviet relics and PRL signage amongst books of Judaica lining the unpainted walls. The soundtrack represents the indie sensibilities of the hipster staff, and the quiet atmosphere is perfect for vis a vis chats, work or study. Overall, it's a great place to take a break and relax.
