This exhibit documents Francizek's ongoing project in which he asks people from various cultural backgrounds to donate blood, and makes portraits of them as they are performing this selfless act. Blood donation is proof of human solidarity, because blood enables a unique form of medical treatment; it has no substitute. The disclosure of each donor's identity is a crucial part of Franciszek Orłowski’s project, making the public and potential recipients of the blood aware of its origins. Unfortunately, there are many Poles who do not have an amicable disposition to strangers, migrants, or individuals from cultures, ethnicities or religions outside their own. The project 'This Blood is for You' encourages us to literally and figuratively 'open our veins' to those who are different from us, to realise that a stranger can, simply and straightforwardly, become an integral part of ourselves. When it comes to saving a life, ethnicity, religion, skin colour and nationality cease to be relevant. They no longer divide us.
