Grechuta Festival

Tuesday Oct 22 - Sunday Oct 27

Marek Grechuta was a Polish singer, songwriter, composer, and lyricist. His singing career began at the university, after meeting Jan Kanty Pawluśkiewicz (composer and musician) with whom he founded the cabaret Anawa. His poetic songs, widely popular, made him into the most beloved Polish bard. With his catchy spoken lyrics, roaring drinking habit and rumoured schizophrenia, Marek Grechuta was the embodiment of tortured genius. His place in Polish music history is cast in stone –think of him as the Polish Bob Dylan - and so it's of little surprise that a festival dedicated exclusively to the sung poetry musician has sprung up in the bohemian Kraków. The festival takes place in various venues: Teatr Praska 52, Strefa, ICE Kraków.
