Some would argue that creating any kind of art is a political act, but this exhibit at MOCAK examines the relationship in depth, focusing on works that are overtly political in nature from their very inception to the way they engage the audience. The selected works, from artists all over the world, present a critical take on the actions of governments and politicians, and demonstrate the increasingly blurred line between art and activism. Exhibited in six thematic sections, they touch on some of the most pressing social concerns of the day, with works relating specifically to social protests in Poland, the political situation in Belarus, the rising tide of nationalism, the way politics are reported in the media, the refugee crisis, the war in Ukraine, increasing social division and political partisanship, the pitfalls of democracy and more. The results are both provocative and insightful.
