Rafał Olbiński is a prominent painter, illustrator and designer residing in the United States. He is considered one of the major representatives of the Polish School of Posters. Olbinski himself describes his approach to painting and illustrating as "poetic surrealism". His body of work is very extensive: he was commissioned by the U.S. Information Agency to design a poster celebrating  the 25th Earth Day Anniversary, he designed opera sets, as well as multiple installations in Europe and produced more than 100 opera illustrations. His work appeared in many world publications. The artist is the recipient of many prestigious awards. He is currently on the faculty of the School of Visual Arts in New York City.
