Who doesn't love waste management? Well, like or not, it plays a big part of the aims of the Vision 2020 plans. The main aims in this area are the upgrading of the waste collection system, the upgrading of the Regional Waste Management Centre (RCERO), reduction of the share of waste left on landfill to less than 15% of total waste and the reduction of total waste by more than 3% annually.

How will this be done? There are five main areas of waste reduction being focused on. These are the reduction of waste generation, the reuse of waste, the material recovery of waste (or recycling, to be a bit less formal), waste processing and waste removal.

The key project in all of these, indeed so key as to be in bold print on the official website, is the upgrading of the RCERO, with regular operation aimed to start in 2016.
