Bolstering the allure of Poznań's riverside, this new pedestrian and cycling crossing connects Chwaliszewo to the Lake Malta recreation area, via the southern tip of Ostrów Tumski. In an exceptionally rare feat, it was actually completed ahead of schedule, opening on the last day of February, 2025. Consisting of two bridges - one 165m and the other 117m in length - this much-needed piece of infrastructure not only gets students to the University of Technology more quickly, but has become a popular place for romantic walks. Designed with a central cycling lane and wide pedestrian paths on both sides, the bridges include benches and other architectural elements that invite lingering, especially when street musicians set up along the way. For casual strollers there isn’t much on the other side, but if you have a bike, Lake Malta is only minutes away.
