The magic of Fotoplastikon, where a visitor sits at a viewport around the circumference of the machine. Each picture appears for 15 seconds before moving on to the next. Above each viewport is a window which displays an illuminated card with a brief description of the scene below. Recorded music plays in the background. This time the exhibition shows a different view of the glorious Polish mountains, the Tatras. These are the Tatras of our grandparents. The snow-covered peaks and trees may look the same as today but the life of górale (highlanders) was very different. It is also a chance to view Zakopane (Let's not forget it means 'buried" in Polish) through the eyes of Stanisław Witkiewicz (Witkacy's father), the creator of 'Zakopane architectural style".
