Born in KwaZulu-Natal, Thando Makhosini Ngwenya started his self-guided art practice when he moved to Johannesburg at the age of 14. In Mother, a solo exhibition at Keyes Art Mile, Ngwenya's vivid multimedia works pay homage to three pillar women in his life: his grandmother, mother and sister. This show springs from the enduring, all-encompassing love of mothers, the architects of our earliest memories and silent strength in times of adversity. This body of work doesn't shout, but resolutely celebrates the upholding role of the mothers and women in our lives who guide and shape us profoundly, but whose stories are rarely at the forefront. 

Mother opens at Keyes Art Mile on Thu, Nov 9 from 18:00. The exhibition runs until Sun, Dec 10.
